Whether you just want to have a relaxing family meal or plan on having guests over for a party, the BBQ is a great option. It fits the bill for so many occasions! The BBQ is great for setting the tone of an evening, there is something about a BBQ that tends to relax people more than any other party theme.

The obvious key to the BBQ party is the BBQ grill itself. Now if you don't already have a BBQ grill you have a lot of options when it comes to getting one. If you're weighing up whether or not to go for a brick BBQ in your back yard, here's a couple of things worth considering;

1) Security: If you have a secure yard or a secure garage to lock your shiny new store bought BBQ safely away in, great, you can sleep easy knowing it won't be stolen. However if you don't have a garage and your yard isn't so secure then a brick BBQ is your best bet, because it obviously wont be robbed from your garden.

2) Frequency of Use: If you intend to use your BBQ grill regularly, then a brick BBQ grill that's permanently in position will be perfect. However if you're not sure just how much you'll use your new grill maybe its best to buy a cheap grill from the store, just to see if you get enough use from it, before you go building a permanent BBQ fixture in your garden.

3) Space: How much space have you got to work with? If your garden is a reasonable size, well then a brick BBQ should sit nicely into it without taking over. But if you can barely swing a cat in your yard, maybe a smaller BBQ from the store is a better idea.

When all is said and done, a brick BBQ will suit the vast majority of yards, remember you can tailor the size and look of the whole thing to suit your space.

This is known as Quantanium and is a material that was developed by the aerospace industry which goes to show how hi-tech it is! Another useful feature of this Breville panini press is the way it closes. Rather than have a fixed hinge, you can actually adjust the height at which it closes. This means that it is easy to make sandwiches of different sizes. On top of this, all Breville kitchenware is highly stylized and this machine is no different.

This is that the Breville machine has fixed hot plates that cannot be removed from the machine while the Cusinart device allows the user to remove the hot plates. The benefit of removable plates is that it makes thorough cleaning of the device much easier. You can clean the plates in warm soapy water. However with Breville panini presses the only real option is to wipe them down with a damp cloth. Therefore it could be argued that Breville machines are less user-friendly because the cleaning stage is a bit harder. This is an important consideration because the harder it is to use, and clean up afterwards, the less likely we are to actually use our sandwich maker. It does not matter how cheap something is, if we do not make use of it we have simply wasted our money. So are the non-removable hot plates a deal breaker? For me personally this is not a huge issue. However there are some users that find this to be a major draw back.

It does not take a great deal of time for the machine to warm up to a useable temperature. You know when it is ready for use because there is an indicator light that signals when the appropriate temperature has been reached. On this machine there is no option to change the temperature level so there is nothing to get confused with. A good idea is to be preparing your sandwich and filling at the same time as the panini press is heating up. First you just need to select the type of bread that you want to use. One of my favorites is to use ciabatta as this is the type I used to buy when I bought panini from the delicatessen. It feels like this kind of bread was designed with panini sandwich makers in mind! Simply cutting the bread length ways so that you open it up completely allows you to put in the filling that you have decided upon. When you are adding your filling you should be careful not to put too much in nor place ingredients too close to the side. Either of these "mistakes" will likely lead to your panini leaking when it is toasting inside your machine. Instead of trying to stuff too many things into your sandwich why not just pick two things that you think go well together and use that? For me, I really enjoy eating blue cheese. So I like to juxtapose that with something sweet. For example blue cheese with apricot chutney. This makes it easy not to over fill my sandwich. It does not take long for this panini to become ready either. After a few minutes the cheese will have started to melt and the grill marks will begin to appear on the top of the toasted sandwich. At this stage I know that it is ready so just take it out of the machine and serve it up straight away.

Apart from the fact that this machine is not easy to clean, there is nothing bad that I have to say about it. Admittedly I would like to be able to actually wash the hot plates occasionally just so I know that it is completely clean. But other than that I love it. It is great to see the sandwich press sitting on my work top. The design and materials that it is made from make it look like a very high quality piece of merchandise. If you are considering a new toasted sandwich maker, a Breville panini press may be exactly what you are looking for.
